Almost 3,400 volunteer hours at the Courthouse, thanks to Tom Harvey and Mike LaRouso for helping check people in through the front door and Clarence Newmon, a volunteer process server, who served over 11,590 subpoenas last year

Crime Scene and Investigation with 1080 hours,

Thank you to Joan Foster, Eddie Swan and Paul Bristol.

Uniform Operations with 440 hours, thank you Angela Moyer

General Services 250 hours, Thank you Mary Maxwell

And we have a newly formed Marine Unit with over 40 hours logged in thanks to Barney Giordan, Brian Blais, Fred Chavis, George Douglas, Walt Goodwin, Jim Fleming, Rich Steinbach, Mike Tedesco, Dave Wohahn and Dave Werner

The Patrol or CAP Unit:

Did over  33,640 house, area and business checks – while it might appear to some that you are just riding around, you are the eyes and ears of law enforcement and there are no statistics on just how many potential crimes are averted because of your presence.

Unlocked 5,126 vehicles & received $4,622 in donations

Did 812 Traffic Enforcements – the first thing you hear on the radio after a Traffic Unit is called is “is there a CAP Unit available”

Did 305 DUI Impoundments which generated over $ 10,680.00 for Law Enforcement in Indian River County.

Did 275 School Crossings plus the School Crossing at Storm Grove twice a day since school started

Wrote  45  illegal parking tickets and issued 2,444 illegal parking and fire lane warnings

Did  281 Transports, 376  VIN Verifications and  91 We Care Checks

This frees up the deputy’s time to do other things.

All of the Community Service Unit programs are invaluable to this agency and our community.  Their loyalty, dedication and hard work affects so many and does not get all the recognition they deserve.

Mall Substation volunteers – 1,450 hours from Mall Substation

These dedicated groups of volunteers call the elderly who have no one nearby each day of the week, including holidays.  The call is often the only communication the We Care participant gets all day

SPECIAL THANK YOU to Jim & Donna Dobie for “Going the Extra Mile” to visit the We Care Participants.  At Christmas Donna takes them flowers and they rotate visiting the them.

The Mall Substation also has information on the many programs available in our community.

A Special Thank you to those who diligently attempt to help Lynn with the many tasks assigned to her …

Judy Deeson, Sally Farace, Dora Esposito and Cathy Ceglady,

and thank you to Pat Daum for her dedication to the Pawn Shop detail.

Seniors vs Crime - Over 1100 hours with Seniors vs Crime – This program, sponsored by the Attorney General’s Office, actively assists in consumer protection investigations.  It is based at the Mall Office and spearheaded by Fred Grone who does a great job.  This year they’ve handled 30 cases with 4 going to criminal referrals, 8 resolved to satisfaction and others referred to Civil.

Victim Advocate Volunteers logged in 870 volunteer hours with “On Call” hours totaling 3,515 hours Shirley Rosemond  & VAP volunteers. The Victim Assistance Program is there for the physical, emotional and financial needs of victims of crime. The Victim Assistance volunteers are fully trained to be first responders to supplement paid personnel, and are on call rotation 24 hours a day, seven day a week, to assist any 911 call as directed by our agency's policy and procedures.  They are a valuable asset to our agency and our community.
