Classification / Records
This unit provides essential services in establishing custodial separation of persons incarcerated and is an essential part of every Correctional facility operation. The Classification services ensure appropriate housing placement is made based on each individual persons history and criminal offense and changing custody levels during their incarceration in the facility, including placement in inmate programs. Additionally, the Classification staff review and provides due process and makes disciplinary sanction recommendations for every individual act of facility rule violations. The Classification / Records Unit is responsible for maintaining current and accurate records on each inmate housed in our facility. They update the inmate files with changes in court dates, and criminal sentences, along with preparing all necessary paperwork for all inmates sentenced to Department of Corrections. They are in contact with other state and local facilities and other functions of the criminal justice system regarding extradition to or from the facility, arrange transportation and place holds on wanted persons in other jurisdictions as well as place holds from other jurisdictions for our agency.
