James G. Harpring, Legal Counsel
Jim Harpring is a native Floridian, residing in Indian River County for over 20 years. After graduation from Hollywood Hills High School, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Denison University in Granville Ohio and a Juris Doctor Degree from The New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a member of the Florida Bar and a member of the Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Government Lawyer and City, County and Government Law Sections of the Florida Bar. He is admitted to practice before the United States district for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Jim earned the designation of a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Trial Law in 1996 and was also awarded the title of Board Certified Emeritus Specialist by the Florida Bar in 2008. Jim has been in both private practice and government service over the past two decades.
Jim is also a graduate of the Indian River State College Criminal Justice Institute, and FDLE Certified Law Enforcement Officer and a Sworn Deputy Sheriff. He is a member of the International Association for Asset Recovery, Florida Association of Police Attorneys, the Florida Sheriff’s Association (FSA) and serves on the FSA’s legislative Review Committee. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Indian Rive State College and an Instructor at the Criminal Justice Institute at the Indian River State College.
