Martha Asher, Support Services Director
Director Martha Asher has over 20 years of experience with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. She joined the Sheriff’s Office in August, 1989, during the start up and development of the accreditation process. Once accredited, she took the position as Supervisor of the General Services Unit.
Director Asher has monitored insurance coverage for the Agency including equipment, vehicles, K-9, marine and aviation. Director Asher has been actively involved in the implementation of the barcode system used to track all inventory and assets of the agency. She has supervised the Purchasing Function, including implementation of electronic requisitions for all purchases and centralized receiving and issuance of all property with the opening of a new warehouse. Supervising telecommunications, contract reviews and facility management, including the rebuild after hurricane damage, has given her a broad knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office operations.
Director Asher attended the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University before moving to Florida in 1988. Her daughter, Christa is employed with the Marriott Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio.
