Traffic
The Traffic Unit's primary function is to promote the safe and expedient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through effective and efficient traffic law enforcement designed to reduce traffic crashes, and their resultant fatalities and injuries.
The Traffic Unit's goal is to enforce traffic laws in a consistent and courteous manner in an effort to foster a positive public attitude and acceptance of such enforcement. These set goals are accomplished with the three E's – Engineering, Education, and Enforcement. As our community continues to grow, the efforts to make roadways of Indian River County safe for all our citizens and visitors is foremost on our minds. With this, the Traffic Unit will continue to aggressively address the issues of traffic safety.
In 2008 there were 2100+ traffic crashes investigated.
